Has anybody seen my clubs? Par 3

As my fingers hit the computer keys, there are saws whining in two adjacent rooms and sledge hammers breaking through walls  all around me.  Simultaneously, plaster dust permeates the air before it settles over the scattered broken plaster strewn throughout the premises. IMG_1470

Somewhere in this chaos sit my golf clubs along with a desire to be on the course and not in the midst of this mess…ughhh!

And then…

I am reminded of the challenging biblical passage laid out in James chapter 1 verses 2 through 4 which says:

“…when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.  For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.  So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” (NLT)

When I consider this passage I gain a fresh perspective. I remember that this temporary mess—which, by the way, was “self-imposed”— is for good reason. My heart softens and my attention turns to what I might learn and how I might grow, in the moment, and I am once again encouraged to know that Our Maker understands my “work in progress” status.  Comforted by this reassurance I re-fix my eyes on the vision that lies ahead and thank God for his grace and patience.

How about you?  Got any messes you would just as soon run from…at the moment?  Where are you turning for your encouragement?

  1. Thanks for your photos, Larry! I’ve been praying for your remodeling, but now I can “see” what at disruption it has been for sometime now. It seems that disruptions are
indeed a “test” to see Who and what we are focusing on in our daily lives. Blessings!
